This is it everyone!  It's time for the results of Super Deluxe MUGEN STAGE WARS!

First, I want to explain the judging a little bit.  There were two main things we looked at.  Programming and appearance.  Programming was just checking to make sure there weren't any points where there was empty space and other things like deltas.  Appearance is self-explanatory.  We graded on a scale from 1 to 5.  Because of this, 3 is the average.  The highest score you could get from an individual judge is 10, and the average score is 5/6.  IF YOU GOT A SCORE OF THREE ON ANYTHING IT DOESN'T MEAN IT IS BAD.  It means that in that area you were nice and solid.  To get higher than a 3 you had to put forth an extra special effort.

Now before I reveal the results, I'd like to sincerely thank everyone who entered this contest.  I was really pleased with the turn-out and the variety, but most of all the quality of all the stages.  I have to say that I'm honestly very humbled after seeing all the stages you guys put out.  And finally, the results...

In first place with a total score of 29 points (out of a possible 30)....

The SDM STAGE WARS Winner...

CRYSTAL LABYRINTH (Gradius III) by felineki!

Right behind felineki in second place with 27 points and taking Honorable Mention is...

ANOTHER WORLD (Out of This World) by Cadicle!

A mere one point behind Cadicle is~

COMIX ZONE (Comix Zone) by P.o.t.S.

Fourth place with 23 points...

BUTTER BUILDING (Kirby's Adventure) by GaryCXJk

Tied for Fifth Place with 21 points...

BLUE LAKE (Kid Chameleon) by UraBahn
METRO CITY (Biomenace) by aokmaniac13

In Seventh Place we have a mega-tie with a whopping 5 stage all getting 19 points...

BALCONY (Cave Story) by Hoshi
BRINSTAR (Super Metroid) by Kamek
FATAL JUDGMENT (Guilty Gear Judgment) by Kung Fu Man
SIMBA'S RETURN (The Lion King) by Aztec Soldier
WELCOME TO MONKEY WORLD! (Yoshi's Island) by Mature4Evr

In Thirteenth Place, but by no means bad stages, is another tie with 15 points...

CAVE OF SPIRITS (Tales of Phantasia) by megaman_zer0
ICE TEMPLE OF QUINNSVETH (Original) by Moldredd

Congratulations felineki!  What a cool and unexpected stage!  Right now Titiln is making a cool thing for you to put in your sig or anywhere you want so you can show off how awesome your stage is.

Not only to felineki, but a congratulations is due to everyone.  Again, the stages were all really good.  If you placed low in the contest, it's by no means a reflection of your ability or the quality of your stage.  It just so happens that some of the best in M.U.G.E.N participated in this tournament and really went all out.  You're all in a class above the rest.  Thanks so much for participating, and I hope you all had as much fun as myself and the other judges did.

And for those of you curious, here's all the scores and comments:

Overall Scores (DOC file)
DGJ's Scores
Jango's Scores
Titiln's Scores

Also, be sure to check out the updated SDM STAGE WARS site.  Thanks again everyone!

Wow! This is really an honor. Thanks a lot, I'm glad you all liked the stage. It really was fun to make, because I have this intense love/hate relationship with the original level it's based on (it's beautiful, it has a gorgeous song, but ITS FRICKING HARD AND MAKES ME WANT TO RIP MY HAIR OUT UUAARRRRRGH). That said, it was a great learning experience, and I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.

There was a lot of creativity in the entries, lots of variety and cool ideas. Everyone did a great job. Personally, my favorites were Comix Zone and Metro City. Grin

Second place is a lot better than I thought I was going to do, and that's not just me saying that. I'm happy with the results, and looking over felineki's stage, it definitely deserves the win.

I'd like to see more contests like this. It was fun.

I'd like to apologize to GaryCXJk and Eep386. My reviews file was almost finished but I couldn't give Jared the fixed version with your correct names. This has happened to me before (as a contest entrant) and it's almost insulting. Sorry.

Also congratulations to the winners and everybody who entered!

I have to agree with Caddie.  This contest, while only focusing on stages, has definitely proven to be one of the most exhilarating things I've ever done in Mugen.  Plus, even though I placed 7th (which, by no means, am I angry with), it was a real pleasure to have participated in anything ran by Di Gi Jared.

CONGRATULATIONS, felineki! Smiley

I only see joining contests as pushing me to go on in creating stages and becoming better. Once you do it for the win there's no fun in it.

But 23 points is still a good lot for a beginner Cheesy

I second aokmaniac13 Cheesy

In any case, Stage Wars was the most fun I've had with Mugen in a _long_ time, and I anxiously look forward to Stage Wars II. Props to DGJ, Titiln, Jango, et al. for coming up with this kick-ass idea!
